Renault’s cost-effective brand, Dacia has announced that the Duster compact SUV will start from under £10,000, in front-wheel guise, when it launches in January 2013. The four-wheel-drive model will cost from under £12,500.
The Sandero supermini, described by Dacia as “all-new”, will be priced from under £7,000 – making it one of the most affordable cars in the UK.
The Duster will be produced in right-hand-drive form for the first time and will be built in a new Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in India. Based on the Clio II, the Duster has genuine off-road ability when fitted with four-wheel drive, thanks to its 20cm ground clearance, 30 degree approach angle, and a 35 degree departure angle.
The compact SUV is available with either a 1.6 MPI petrol and a 1.5 dCi, mated to a manual transmission. Further details will be confirmed on 28th June.
