Honda has sold its 800,000th hybrid vehicle recently, taking the Japanese marque 12 years and 2 months to reach the milestone.

Honda didn’t reveal which of its hybrid model took the 800,000th sale, but Honda’s hybrid heritage dates back to the original Insight coupé, which launched in Japan in November 1999.

Honda released Civic and Accord hybrid models after the Insight, before launching the second-generation of its Integrated Motor Assist hybrid technology. Honda released the second-generation Insight in 2009 and since launched six new hybrid models over the last three years which saw global sales grow by 30% last year, to 200,000 units.
